The day she died, <br />He came to her rescue- <br />Not a brave nor handsome knight <br />Upon a mighty stallion; <br />Just he; a disfigured beast, <br />And that tiny beating heart, <br />Which alerted him to her danger. <br /> <br />The day she died, <br />He came from afar to save her <br />From the ones who had hurt her- <br />Crushing her life... <br />And the man who took their son; <br />The babe she never got to hold, <br />Although he had no solid memory <br />Of their child's conception. <br /> <br />The day she died, <br />He held her in his arms, <br />And she whispered 'We loved, ' <br />As in his embrace, <br />She perished. <br />And in that sorrowed moment, <br />He remembered. <br />They HAD loved; <br />And the memories returned, <br />As quiet waves upon the shore of his heart. <br /> <br />The day she died, <br />He crushed her close against his chest <br />Against the beating of his broken heart, <br />Echoing his promise. <br />For love did not die; <br />And forever sounds his eternal cry.... <br />'That Death Shall Have No Dominion.' <br /> <br />He shall live on, <br />In the memory of their love.... <br />So he might rescue their son; <br />For in the blue of his infant eyes <br />There shines the reflection of his mother, <br />And although lovers be lost, <br />Love lives on- <br />Forever... <br />For heartache as well as death <br />Has not the power to separate true lovers.<br /><br />Lesa MRK<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/although-lovers-be-lost/
