Alas, the brash youth. <br />He bartered with the devil <br />the very life he sought to keep. <br /> <br />Usurping the Life that created him, <br />he gave up the blessings of God. <br /> <br />What a foolish Dorian Gray! <br />Like unthinking Esau <br />he traded his birthright <br />for the lust and sparkle <br />of the immediate moment. <br /> <br />Sadly, he failed to grasp that his life <br />never belonged to him anyway, <br />and now that which he feared the most <br />has become his reality. <br /> <br />If only he chosen to forever dwell <br />in the one Life animating all things <br />and holding them together. <br /> <br />Then like Moses, <br />even in his old age, <br />he could walk, <br />with a spring in his step <br />and a twinkle in his eye.<br /><br />William Jackson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-learning-curve/
