I was walking down this road thinking I was alone <br />Feeling so sorry for myself <br />Wearing the mask of pain on my face <br />The mark of defeat written all over me <br />My back was bent as if I was carrying the weight of the world upon my shoulders. <br /> <br />Then something made me look back <br />Yes something caught my eye <br />And lo! To my surprise <br />Along the winding road behind, <br />People as far as the eye could see <br />Were also travelers on this torturous terrain. <br /> <br />Some were on crutches <br />Some were crawling along <br />And all of us were wandering on with a glazed look in our eyes <br />Some like me were walking alone, <br />Some were in-groups <br />But believe you me, everybody was for himself <br /> <br />Then I thought to myself <br />Is this how life was meant to be <br />That people should pass each other by and not talk <br />Yeah, not share their pain? <br />So I reached out and touched the one besides me, and there it was <br />The look of gratitude shone on his face <br />The feeling of tiredness was shaken from his body <br />And I found to my relief a friend <br />I could travel this road of life with<br /><br />Mpho Petrus Manwedi<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/you-are-not-alone-2/
