The day and night <br />Dancing with each other, <br />Can they live without one another? <br />Are they married <br />And one is just hiding behind the other? <br /> <br />Can you live without Goodness, Evil? <br />And Goodness, <br />Can you be as good without Evil? <br />Do you ennoble one another, <br />Do you work together, <br />Do you conspire, <br />Do you fool us <br />Into thinking you are separate? <br /> <br />Are you both there when I watch the soldier <br />Struggling with blood in his throat? <br />Were you both there when my dog died, <br />And in those speeches Hitler wrote? <br /> <br />Are you both dining and dancing, <br />Lurking in the hearts of all men? <br />And are you there when I fall in love <br />And out again? <br /> <br />Are you lights from the same sun, <br />Are your roots in the same soil, <br />Petals of the same flower? <br />Are you fruits from the same tree, <br />Just one of you sweet <br />And the next sour. <br /> <br />Are you features of the same face? <br />Are you the same mouth <br />But one of you a smile <br />And the next a sneer? <br />Are you the same eyes <br />But one of you a glint <br />And the next a leer? <br /> <br />Are you the same voice <br />But one of you a hiss <br />And the next a sweet hum? <br />And is a wink from that face <br />A flash of mischief to come?<br /><br />K.
