Intoxicated and spent, sleep overcame them as the moon bid adieu <br />Gentle rays of the morning sun murmured to her through the window <br />She stretched and looked at her glorious naked man, her passion anewed <br />Kissing him lightly on the lips, she gave a start as she looked at her toe <br /> <br />Her fins were beginning to reappear with a faint tracing on her legs <br />She ran out of the room in panic.....not knowing what to do <br />And then she thought of her wise old friend...Dolphin, The Astute <br />I must go and meet him, he will be able to give me a clue <br /> <br />She slipped out of the house as her lover slept blissfully unaware <br />Still riding on his dreams he was interlocked in his nymph's embrace <br />She waded in the water and as the waves touched her she uttered a prayer <br />Her transformation now complete she swam away with a languid grace <br /> <br />As he woke up and reached out for his lover he was met with a crumpled bedsheet <br />Bewildered, he went out looking for her but her only trace was her heady fragrance <br />He searched and searched in vain, a sense of foreboding pacing up his heartbeat <br />Only his heart reassuring him that he would be reunited with his love thence <br /> <br />She swam furiously out in the deep seas looking for her saviour <br />Asking the Wily Shark and the Sinuous StingRay of his whereabouts <br />She finally found him swimming languidly in a deserted cove bringing her cheer <br />What brings my beautiful friend, what are your doubts? <br /> <br />You have to save my life, I have given my heart to a man <br />I cant live a dual life.....can I be turned into a woman forever? <br />Please tell me a way so that we can always be one <br />Dolphin, The Astute looked at her and said..You can....however..... <br /> <br /> <br />To be continued.....<br /><br />Renu Rakheja a.k.a Tranquil Ocean<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/n-1-ballad-the-mermaid-part-iv/
