Are you a workaholic, finding work as an escape? <br />On the other hand, a criminal - trying to beat the system <br />You call a rat race. <br /> <br />A musician - attempting to master that doomsday sound <br />You hear. <br />Perhaps a politician - launching a new political career <br /> <br />Maybe enforcing the law will put you in the proper spot light <br />For the people will view you - as a bright shining knight <br /> <br />The hobo lives for today - and the hell with tomorrow, <br />But the preacher tries to save us from hell - and all of <br />Life’s sorrow <br /> <br />When you’re at the end of the line, and the future looks <br />Blight <br /> <br />The wise say “get your act together, ” boy! / girl! <br />Don’t give up the fight <br /> <br />As long as I see a baby’s smile, that’s all the inspiration <br />I need <br />For no rehearsal was needed for an honest angel’s beam. <br /> <br />There is a God; I‘m sure, - guiding us along life’s rocky shore <br />His ways are not always understood, but in his trust, we can <br />Be assured <br /> <br />So here I am, a face in the crowd, revealing the world, the smile <br />Of a clown <br />I may be rich, or I may be poor, I may be unknown, or the talk of <br />The town <br /> <br />However I am not alone, I am everywhere, I am you, and I am he, <br />What I am not - is me. <br />We begin our life always asking why, until we give up and say <br />Just - let it be <br /> <br />The world’s a stage, with a script we must follow and obey. <br />So get your act together and make the best of each and <br />Every day <br /> <br />8/24/06<br /><br />Dave Tanguay<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/get-your-act-together-poem/
