They reached the fields and were astonished to see the decrepit estate <br />The master's tending care was gone, the field was overgrown and wild <br />They sighted him in a corner with overgrown hair and a dishevelled state <br />Approaching him, the disguised mermaid looked at him and smiled <br /> <br />O Adonis, We are passing by in this island and need shelter to stay the night <br />Can you take us in for a day and we shall be gone tomorrow <br />He could never say no to anyone being a true gallant knight <br />He took the two ladies in, house looking in a state of sorrow <br /> <br />Darkness soon came upon them and the ladies retired to their room <br />He went out to drink in the darkness near the sea.....his soul in a state of unrest <br />In the milky whiteness of moonlight, he thought he saw an angel loom <br />In a translucent white dress, it was his guest heading west <br /> <br />Moving sensuously, she almost glided towards the sea <br />Poetry in motion, beauty to kill for.....she was every man's dream <br />Stopping at his arm's length she said ' My life is for thee' <br />Marry me and I promise I will illuminate your life like a sun beam <br /> <br />He said I am a dead man and only my love can come and make me alive <br />She is my breath, she is my passion, she is my life <br />You shall make any man proud but my life will get revived <br />Only by one woman in this world, only she can be my wife <br /> <br />As he said these words....thick clouds covered the moon <br />And as it slowly got uncovered he saw that it was his very mermaid in front of him <br />Unbelievingly, he touched her face and it was really her...and she swooned <br />Into his arms.....getting locked in an embrace.You know what, miracles do happen<br /><br />Renu Rakheja a.k.a Tranquil Ocean<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/n-1-ballad-the-mermaid-vi-concluding-part/
