The west wind comes from over the sea
Whipping up the spume or blowing gently
Full of rain from drizzle to lashing storm
Shaking loose fruit from the boughs of trees
A warning to farmers to bring in the hay
For winter approaches on the west winds heels
A few short weeks and it will all change
The leaves of russet and gold
Will turn brown, fade and fall
Leaving the trees bare, except for the evergreens
Who throughout winter, will stand tall and proud
I know the west wind can vlow as a gale
Or be just a gentle, warm caress on your cheek
So for now sweet west wind
Please hold back your rain
Blow only as a spring breeze
For you have informed me, that I
Must settle down my garden
For it's long winters sleep

Marilyn Shepperson

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-prayer-to-the-west-wind/
