My heart still drags me around <br />I've never had a friend like you <br />There for me when I've been down <br />Picking me back up and dusting me off <br />Days and nights doing nothing but talking, talking, talking... <br />Sharing out biggest secrets, worst fears, and strongest emotions <br />I have to admit I love you, and I have since we met <br />I was always told that the best loves start with the greatest friendships <br />Our situations are something we can't control <br />The future can never be planned out, we have to just go with it <br />But sometimes when you want something and you get it, you become afraid <br />Who doesn't? <br />Sometimes even the best of friendships end, people drift <br />It is true with all things in life, they can end <br />Sometimes you have to take the chances and face the fears <br />I'm not a perfect human, no one is <br />I do worse things to myself than anyone ever has <br />Some days it's all I can do to get up in the morning <br />But you are always there <br />making me laugh, making me cry, reminding me why I am here <br />We will all die someday, sooner or later, old or young <br />I've come to accept that, and I’m ready for when it happens <br />I'm ready to look back on my life and look at it <br />My biggest fear isn't death <br />it's when time comes and I look back, what will I say to myself <br />Did I take all the chances? <br />Did I take the risks and try and make every day the best it could be? <br />Did I tell everyone I loved that I did? <br />Did I kiss the ones I want to kiss? <br />Right now I have to say, 'No, I did not.' <br />Because I've never kissed you <br />I've never wrapped my arms around you and held you tight <br />I've never whispered in you ear and told you I love you <br />Don't be the one that got away, I have too many of those already<br /><br />James Wilde<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/because-i-love/
