I saw the moon set, the stars too, <br />Wondered if others shared my view. <br /> <br />The view relaxed and humbled me, <br />“I am not the center of the galaxy? ” <br /> <br />Each star shines just as bright for all, <br />Realized that we are so incredibly small. <br /> <br />Japan to Iran, same stars for each, <br />The same earth under our feet. <br /> <br />Daily, caught up in our “ever so important” concerns, <br />“What car, what school, what job, what will I earn? ” <br /> <br />I learned then, we must live for the moment, <br />Live for each moment, and own it. <br /> <br />The best times in life happen when we smile, <br />The point of living is to make life worthwhile. <br /> <br />We worry now, to be happy later, <br />Never realizing that now was once a later. <br /> <br />A later that was meant to be savored, <br />Instead missed and never able to be flavored. <br /> <br />My fear is that we blindly plan each upcoming day, <br />And one day we’ll wake up and notice we planned our life away. <br /> <br />We hurry to get to where we want to be, <br />Then want to get back home, just as quickly. <br /> <br />Life isn’t the destination, it’s the drive, <br />Enjoying the ride is what makes us feel alive. <br /> <br />We live as if our goal is to get from point A to point B, <br />If we don’t wake up, we’ll miss the whole journey. <br /> <br />We all try to plan out life, <br />Never will it go just right. <br /> <br />But before we question why it didn’t go our way, <br />Look at the stars, understand that we get to live EACH day<br /><br />Akash Gill<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/reflections-on-life/
