Your Body, My Forest. <br /> <br />Your body is my forest, <br />You are My shelter, <br />Your feet and toes are the soil and roots, <br />So fertile with goodness and life, <br />They are strong to keep you standing tall, Beside me. <br /> <br />Your legs & waist are the body of the trees, <br />Which are solid & full with strength, <br />To stand strong, With me. <br /> <br />Your shoulders & head are the roof of my forest, <br />The top branches & leaves that protect the body of your tree, <br />And the fragile ground below, <br />Which I stand under, To shelter. <br /> <br />The soul of your forest is your chest & arms. <br />Your chest holds my heart with yours, <br />Warm, solid & loving. <br />Your arms are the strongest branches which surround & hold me, So close. <br /> <br />Like yours, <br />My forest is strong, <br />Yet fragile, full of goodness & fertile, <br />To feed and love you. <br />My arms are the surrounding ferns & branches also, <br />From my body, <br />Which houses my soul, Wanting you. <br /> <br /> <br />So when you see trees huddled and growing together, <br />Keeping one another company & staying strong, <br />Their roots intertwining and supportive… <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Think of us, Yours and my branches- Our arms, reaching out in this world, holding hands together, keeping our souls, our bodies, our spirits & hearts, side by side, Evermore.<br /><br />Julie Stone<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/your-body-my-forest-sonnet/
