Polly had a heart, <br />She really did, <br />But listening to those kids <br />Made her hate herself, <br />And everything else, <br />Until consumed with rage <br />She began to abuse herself, <br />Cigarette burns mixed with beauty spots, <br />Wine stains down her brand new top, <br />A knife coated in her crimson blood, <br />The cuts on her arm a sick sense of love, <br /> <br />Danny sold his soul, <br />Just for a taste, <br />Getting high meant that <br />There was less that he had to face, <br />But purple haze only lasts for a while, <br />And now all that’s left <br />Is a long faded smile. <br />He wakes up everyday and is sick, <br />The wound on his soul is a scab badly picked, <br />He is so numb he can’t even cry, <br />His only dream now is to die. <br /> <br />We’re falling apart with nothing but hate, <br />As we sit here alone in the darkness and wait, <br />So the C.D’s on pause <br />Cos’ I’m sick of this song, <br />I hope that you’ll hear me, <br />But I think that I’m wrong, <br />Forgive me for this <br />But I can’t hold me back, <br />My demons I’m afraid <br />Have emerged from the cracks <br />Of the mask that I <br />Made for myself, <br />So I hope that you’re good, <br />I’m not quite as well. <br /> <br />The rain falls and the sun departs, <br />The cloud shifts to cloak all the hearts <br />Of those in the city who pass slowly by, <br />Their lives and their dreams a horrible lie, <br />The wind scatters leaves across the street, <br />And life and death move on without missing a beat.<br /><br />Mathew Lewis<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-tragedy-in-four-parts/
