Part time musos parkside showtime <br />Willing helpers hustle and <br />Laminated eyes lie open at the page <br />Where black ink code drops hints <br />And minds engage <br />And ink noise crotchets tumble out of trumpet bells <br />That’s the focus anyway <br /> <br />BLARRRRRRR tra BWERRRNNN <br />Tun... tun... tun... tun... <br /> <br />The power of the opening bars SHOCKS <br />This lazy sunny place and Shakes <br />And oscillations Pump and Blast <br />And claim me <br />Hold me <br />A helpless mass of resonating guts and bones <br /> <br />And then the saxophone … <br />God that soaring sax <br />It wails a line directly to my inner beast <br />And Christ I’m air born <br />Soaring high above the stage <br /> <br />My eyes compass takes a leap <br />Beyond the patchy clump of audience <br />Through air blue powder haze to <br />Cell camed family picnics <br />And ipod isolated <br />Double glazed indifferents <br /> <br />A five-a-side of cricket stops amazed <br />A frisby catcher baulked and missed <br />And dodged a power walker <br />Transcendent endorphined and absent <br />Who double takes and gets it <br /> <br />And skaters ka-lunk n rumble <br />Wide arcs down the pavement <br />And a juggler busker nearly drops it falling into time <br />The kids, the kids are jumping speechless <br />And the bandstand is the focus <br />Of every ear and every eye <br /> <br />And after that it was a long slow glide to earth <br />A long slow dancing glide <br /> <br />And I hug myself n hold my body dear n priceless <br />Music has my measure and ah God <br />I love music.<br /><br />David S Dennis<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/79-concert-in-the-park/
