There was a time when carolers <br />Strolled the wintery, cold streets, <br />And bowed, and smiled, and said, 'Hello! ' <br />To everyone they chanced to meet. <br /> <br />There was a time when little children <br />Looked at a tree on Christmas Morn.... <br />You know, the ones decorated and strung <br />With strings of cranberries and popcorn. <br /> <br />There was a time when Christmas <br />Was for friends from far and near, <br />A time for gathering, and fellowship, <br />Love, and worship, and good cheer. <br /> <br />There was a time when sleigh bells <br />Jingled and jangled and RANG, <br />And neighbors called out greetings... <br />Back when carolers sang. <br /> <br />A cup of Wassil warmed you <br />At the hearth of every home, <br />And Father gathered in the children <br />To read the Christmas Poem: <br /> <br />'T'was the night before Christmas, <br />And all through the house....' <br />was scent of pine tree, and gingerbread... <br />Back when carolers sang. <br /> <br />This is dedicated to a fellow writer here on PH, Robert Howard, with thanks for the beautiful CD he sent me for Christmas, and the joy the music brought me!<br /><br />Scarlett Treat<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/when-carolers-sang/
