The swinging door does beckon <br />With a glimpse of future dreams - <br />On this side I am comfortable <br />On the other nothing seems <br />To fit into my present state, <br />I need to change my mind <br />To contemplate what's possible <br />If answers I must find; <br /> <br />The door is very heavy <br />I can't open it alone, <br />But if I ask for clarity <br />Of vision I'll have grown <br />Strong enough to force that door <br />To swing and open wide, <br />Then all those unknown treasures <br />I'll find on the other side; <br /> <br />The swinging door does beckon <br />Am I ready to walk through? <br />This fence is so uncomfortable, <br />There's nothing more to do <br />On this side that I haven't done, <br />So why not take a chance <br />Before that door stops swinging <br />And I've grown too old to dance.<br /><br />Linda Ori<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-swinging-door/
