You act as if you're superior <br />When your ignorance makes you inferior <br />You've been complimented one too many times, dear <br />And wonder why it is no one holds you dear <br />You isolate yourself from all existence <br />Yet wonder why no one goes the distance <br />The world's a lot bigger than your front door <br />And I can't stand to listen to you anymore <br />Everything's taken to offense <br />And sometimes things just make no sense <br />You retaliate, go on the attack <br />And now you can't take those words back <br />I tolerate your childish game <br />Why can't you see, we're not the same! <br />But don't think you're special, or one-of-a-kind <br />Because sadly, one day you will find <br />That we're all the same, and no one is better <br />We live and die down to the same letter <br />And just because others live as they do <br />Doesn't mean they're aiming it at you <br />Learn to take a joke, and not be so uptight <br />Quit insulting everyone, thinking you're always right <br />Otherwise, you'll be alone in the end... <br />And that'll hit you so great, you'll no longer pretend <br />It'll be so empty, it's hard to ignore <br />And I guess I suppose that's what this poem is for <br />To send a shock to your system and just let you know <br />That nothing will ever go right unless you learn to let go <br />So do something more than just come along and show up <br />Why don't you shut up until you manage to grow up!<br /><br />Amanda Saveley<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-little-monday-night-venting/
