Many had walked these very lanes, <br />Two thousand years ago, <br />Carrying a wooden cross, <br />And were crucified in the end: <br />Yet, all were sinful men! <br /> <br />But just one man <br />With a spotless soul, <br />Carried a cross to Calvary, <br />And shed his blood and died: <br />For not a fault of his, <br />But for mankind’s every sin, <br />And redeem souls for heaven, <br />In obedience to the Holy Will <br />Of God, His Father! <br /> <br />The Scriptures foretold his birth, <br />And death and resurrection <br />On the third day. <br /> <br />That man was Jesus Christ: <br />The Lamb of God, <br />The Son begotten, <br />The Lord of hosts, <br />The divine Judge! <br /> <br />He will come a second time, <br />In the glory of angels, <br />For the final celestial harvest: <br />Of souls! <br />To pluck the weeds and burn them down in hell; <br />To store the grains in the heaven’s granaries; <br />To separate the righteous from evil. <br /> <br />And with that, <br />This earth will cease, <br />And the world will end <br />Forever! <br />Copyright by Dr John Celes 2-15-2007<br /><br />Dr John Celes<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-crucifixion-of-jesus-christ/
