A sweet perfume that has a dreamy intoxication, <br />but with an edge of wakeful anticipation. <br />A shapely goddess of porcelain skin, <br />but not so thin to show each bone that lies within. <br />A sparkle in the eye with blues so deep that I may drown, <br />but not so wide awake that they cannot dream of me. <br />A warm enchanting embrace that’s so sweet and safe, <br />but not so soft that the heart has no need to race. <br />A woman that with life has learnt to wait and yearn, <br />but not a face that has with time lost grace. <br />A heart so big that in its deepness I feel I’m lost in space, <br />but not so vast I cannot fathom all its depth. <br />Is such a woman ever to be found. <br />Is my wisdom wise enough to know, <br />who she is, and where we should together go? <br />Perhaps I gaze upon her each and every day, <br />but my gaze has lost its open freshness, <br />with a dreamy intoxication of dissatisfaction?<br /><br />David Taylor<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/can-such-a-woman-be-found/
