I’m lost in the airport <br />Like I’m lost on everyday streets, <br />I never know where I’m going <br />And I don’t have anyone to meet. <br /> <br />I buy a magazine, <br />Fill my coffee cup at the café, <br />I carry my stars <br />In this cup that you gave me <br />When we were both younger <br />And walked among the airport terminals <br />Dreaming of distant lands <br />And making impossible plans. <br /> <br />We never got off the ground, <br />My plane is always down, <br />But I toast your memory eyes <br />On whatever part of this planet <br />Where your distant heart survives. <br /> <br />I don’t know if I still love you, <br />Don’t even know any longer <br />If I know how to make love, <br />But you were there <br />When I thought I knew these things. <br /> <br />Why can’t I take a plane <br />Back to our innocence <br />And try it all again? <br />My stars would be more vivid <br />Than this coffee cup I live in.<br /><br />Uriah Hamilton<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/coffee-cup-of-stars/
