Jungles have eyes which constantly <br /> observe the humans who intrude <br /> upon their ancient secrecy. <br />The local natives understood. <br /> <br />The jungle can enforce its laws. <br /> Men must obey or they will die. <br />But when the strangers came of course <br /> they argue and they question why. <br /> <br />They think they know a better way <br />for after all they’re civilised. <br />They do not know that they are prey <br /> until at last they are surprised <br /> <br />by some indigent predator. <br />They satisfy the appetite <br /> of a successful carnivore. <br />Who kills because it is his right. <br /> <br />He has to prey before his feed <br /> as he has always done before. <br />Like all the others of his breed <br /> obedient to jungle law. <br /> <br />The strangers came but they were lost <br /> far from their normal habitat. <br /> Ignored the rules and paid the cost. <br />Fast food for a hungry jungle cat.<br /><br />ivor .e hogg<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/without-trace/
