Gravely i grimace <br />In knife-like pain <br />Living vicariously <br />In realities cold rain <br />Today i drive for <br />The abstract <br />The canned apathy <br />Of city streets <br />Once there i mingle <br />With torrents of humble <br />Strangers and soothsayers <br />I surround myself <br />By painless illusionists <br />Who show me the <br />Snows of Hell <br />While watching it freeze <br />Over <br />'Never' is an unaccepted <br />Word here amongst the <br />Throngs of wizards and <br />Non compliant enities <br />That tint and paint the <br />Grafittied walls that form <br />The boundaries of Earth <br />And Sea <br />Earth bids to me hearty <br />To gigantic waves of <br />Tempest drenched tides <br />I ride the waves <br />An accomplished surfer <br />As my pain dissolves <br />Amongst the stingrays <br />And sharks that accompany <br />Me in the surf <br />The sandy beaches are <br />Now simply a dim memory <br />Of the hollowed out <br />Hour-glass of sandy beaches <br />And fossilized driftwood <br />Of my once pain colored world<br /><br />Theodora (Theo) Onken<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/realities-escape/
