...than this baby's bulbous belly - - <br />A send-up of Santa's own semblance to jelly! <br />It inflates the fabric of her flowered frock. <br />Nested on noggin are chick-fluff flaxen locks. <br /> <br />Wobbling in her stiff white leather shoes <br />(sturdy lace-ups a far cry from future Choo's) , <br />She wears chocolate milk as a badge of honor. <br />Sink into her smile - POW - you're a goner! <br /> <br />Flaunting chubby cheeks with infant charm, <br />She holds Elmo handily by hirsute arm... <br />Oops! Dropped him on his furry red hind-end, <br />Laying bare diapered derriere as down she bends. <br /> <br />Sitting in this cookie-cutter style cafe', <br />I am delighted by every dear display! <br />She flings up her frock, airing impish impatience, <br />Brandishing bouncy belly with blithe insouciance. <br /> <br />While her mother chatters on, she waddles near, <br />Straight to my smile, her intentions unclear. <br />Then comes the sweetest 'nothing' of my day: <br />This baby's hand lifts, waving love my way... <br /> <br /> <br />(4.19.07 - - and then she bent again to mouth a pebble from the sidewalk...! <br />I watched from my window seat as she toddled about, never crying once, amusing herself for over twenty minutes.
