It started many years ago <br />My love affair with words <br />From comics to the classics on the shelf - <br />The power of the written word <br />Could set my spirit free <br />Could take me on a voyage by myself; <br />While sitting in the comfort of <br />My favorite easy chair <br />I've traveled to the corners of the earth - <br />And sometimes far beyond that <br />To horizons yet unknown <br />I've contemplated miracles of birth; <br />Yes, I have been a reader <br />And a writer of these words <br />For many hours they've occupied my mind - <br />How could I live without them? <br />They're the nourishment I crave <br />A better lover would be hard to find; <br />So on this sweet occasion <br />As I celebrate this goal <br />Two hundred poems have tumbled from my pen - <br />I hope to write two hundred more <br />Before my thoughts run dry...................... <br />And then I'll start all over once again.<br /><br />Linda Ori<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-200/
