I know these questions have been asked a billion times. <br />And a billion ways in different rhymes. <br />But why are we who we are? <br />And why do are paths differ afar? <br />Why is it so hard to obtain what is good? <br />When the wrongs are within reach or our personhood. <br /> <br />I know our life experiences <br />alter our own pretenses, <br />but identical twin aren't even the same. <br />One maybe outgoing, the other tame. <br /> <br />And even when we choose our own path. <br />It's not always what we hope will last. <br />Woulda, coulda, shoulda. and what ifs? <br />Too many questions, it gets me miffed. <br /> <br />I suppose if the world was a perfect place. <br />I wouldn't need questions to retrace. <br />But still I want to know the answers for me. <br />So I can be free of all these pleas. <br /> <br /> <br />(6 May 2007)<br /><br />JoJo Bean<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/why-are-we-who-we-are/
