How I remember Grandma’s cookies <br />As I came into her home it was nice <br />To smell the fragrance of them in the air <br />I detected chocolate, oatmeal and spice <br /> <br />Warm and gooy on my tongue <br />I would close my eyes for a moment <br />Because they tasted so very good <br />As sweet as a fresh-made jelly doughnut <br /> <br />And during the holidays, of course <br />Grandma would always mix ‘em up <br />I would sit and watch then taste them <br />With fresh cold milk in Grandma’s cup <br /> <br />To be able to observe this wonderful lady <br />Brought such a warm sweet emotion <br />And to add the food that she cooked so well <br />I felt such total and loving devotion <br /> <br />As I look at wonderful old pictures <br />In our worn family album from a chest <br />It’s almost like I’m sitting once again <br />In Grandma’s kitchen that I loved best!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/grandma-s-delicious-cookies/
