You know, there are many folks <br />When they see a cotton gin <br />Can say, “I remember that...’ <br />Telling stories from way back when <br /> <br />Why I plucked one just the other day <br />It was soft yet a prickly boll <br />I’m not from the southern states <br />I haven’t had the experience at all <br /> <br />But as I drove across the country <br />I was amazed at the cotton fields <br />Huge brick-like blocks told me <br />There was a huge amount of yield <br /> <br />I think it’s just beautiful to observe <br />Fields of perfect cotton beds <br />My imagination goes wild and I see <br />Kids with white wooly caps instead <br /> <br />I noticed cotton is grown in states <br />Where I didn’t realize it would grow <br />Traveling is the best way to scrutinize <br />This wonderful country that I love so!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/ah-amazing-cotton-fields/
