Having mutated into a beast with hairy palms <br />and fallen arches...Dr. Moreau beckoned me to join the others <br />For they too had long whiskers extending from cold noses <br />and their long teeth were stained red by the dye of bloody Mary... <br />Hunger and thirst controlled their emotions...It was only hunger <br />and the desire to eat your young before the age of two <br />that made us all kin in our kingdom by the sea... <br />To the outside world we were just savages...with no free will <br />But to the good Doctor we were his children <br />and he would lead us in activities like howling at the moon <br />or licking our private parts without guilt...he loved us and it showed <br />Nowhere else in the world could beasts like us <br />exist so cohesively within nature.... <br />I would have no need to evolve.....I liked being a mutant <br /> <br />T Sheridan 2007©<br /><br />Ted Sheridan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/down-at-the-pub-with-me-mates/
