When I once went out shopping <br />I bought a pair of glasses <br />But pity I couldn’t wear them <br />In between all my classes. <br />I still loved wearing those glasses <br />Even though I could see well <br />We never were separated <br />For more time than the tinkle of a bell <br />But there was something odd about those glasses <br />When I wore them things seemed to shrink <br />And things began to disappear <br />Like things that I eat or drink <br />Even people didn’t accept me <br />Like all my friends at school <br />I guess they don’t think I am smart, <br />Dashing, rocking or cool <br />So one day I took off my glasses <br />In the crowded school hallway <br />When everybody began saying compliments like, “You’re cool” <br />This wonderful dream can’t be true, no way. <br />Now I have all my friends back <br />But I have given up one thing <br />“I’ve got rid of my glasses” <br />Is the song which I now always sing.<br /><br />Risha Ahmed (12 yrs)<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/063-the-not-so-cool-glasses/
