I've been in this scene so many times <br />coming back to the very same place <br />I see the world's creative lines <br />etched into and around your face <br /> <br />and now the sun sets in a sky of gold <br />paved with the city's jagged ceiling <br />over and over I have been told <br />to put a stop to the way I am feeling <br /> <br />but I won't because I know <br />more than any other place I call my own <br />this one is so beautiful <br />I'm here with you, I'm not alone <br /> <br />my mind is racing once again <br />faster than these speeding freeways <br />you talk to me about 'back then' <br />and compare it cleverly to 'these days' <br /> <br />light can echo just like sound <br />soaring through the crowds of dreamers <br />it laughs at the people on the ground <br />at the fashion girls and midnight schemers <br /> <br />and I smile because I know <br />more than any other place I call my own <br />this one is so beautiful <br />I'm here with you, I'm not alone <br /> <br />I'm drifting off to sleep <br />imagining your arms around me <br />my friend, you look so weak <br />so go ahead and put your arms around me <br /> <br />as darkness falls <br />I open myself up to you <br />my heart has no walls <br />I'm going to let you see right through <br /> <br />we are in cityland.<br /><br />Jade Leven<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/cityland/
