You are walking across the desert, <br />under a hot blazing sun; <br />you eyes search the horizon <br />for an oasis somewhere. <br />Places of palm trees, <br />and a pool of cool water there, <br />a little island in the sand. <br /> <br />Finally you see something, <br />you run headlong towards it, <br />dive into the cool water. <br />This is what you think you see, <br />but you end up bathing in the hot sand, <br />it is only a mirage you see. <br /> <br />Love can also be, <br />very much like that, <br />island in the sand. <br />Once you get close, <br />it may also disappear. <br /> <br />14 June 2007<br /><br />David Harris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/island-in-the-sand/
