In the cold and dark dungeon of life, I lie, <br />With fear, like a shining dagger, hanging above me, <br />Voices shrill, prophecies, predictions, fill my ears, <br />While I struggle, to break away from the shackles of fate, <br />I find no ray of light, no hope for a future, to look ahead to, <br />With time, sand in hourglass, flowing out, never flowing in. <br />Clouds dark, my thoughts, hide in the moonlight and stars from me, <br />And the peltering raindrops, whispers agonies and woes in my ears. <br />Heart heavy with pain, I long for freedom, a ground to stand firm, <br />A ray of light, a hope for a life, without fear, to live to fullest. <br />Night passes, dawn arrives, with it the first rays of sun, <br />Bathing me in light, light of a new born hope. <br />Misty morning, dressed in the robe of dew, with the song of birds, <br />Awakes me into a day, a day to walk ahead, to live without fear.<br /><br />Sreeja Sreedharan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-new-day-18/
