I've never been so drawn and broken <br />As I am now, <br />With a blood stained sword and words unspoken <br />I built bridges, my vow <br />Only too see them fall, <br />To returning Conquered enemies. <br />Sempiternal strength threatens evermore <br /> <br />I've accepted religion only to renounce <br />In my own deep beliefs I became devout. <br />Justice, equality and above all peace, <br />But, <br />Staying true I could not do <br />I fall too often and so I loose <br />I hear give you my solemn truths. <br /> <br />I've walked a land of broken glass <br />A symbolic route of my social class, <br />But my feet, they don’t bleed <br />For I am bloodless from past defeats <br /> <br />So here I am today, before you a play <br />Pale, thin and a cold frowning brow <br />I climbed your mountains so please hear me now <br />Please, <br /> Grant me one moments glow <br />Under your magnificent crown, <br />But, <br />You raise your head and turn around, <br />Somehow walking with you head held proud<br /><br />Daniel Richards<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/drawn-and-broken-end/
