I have always known <br />I am special and alone. <br />From earliest childhood memories <br />I remember. <br />I saw the world full of promise <br />as a vastness of light and purity <br />full of creatures and children and adults <br />out there and here at home. <br />A kaleidoscope of changing colours <br />movements with divine choreography. <br />Deeply hurt when man’s hard shell <br />impinged upon the beauty <br />I knew so well. <br />In a vast playground <br />wanting just to play <br />trying to stay out of the bullies’ way. <br />Feeling lonely most everyday <br />until I realised that in disguise <br />it was always you right by my side. <br />And then I saw that I always knew <br />you are so special and I am too. <br />We are alone, I and the I in you.<br /><br />David Taylor<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/alone-and-special/
