America The Beautiful <br />By Barbara Lynn Terry <br /> <br />To my country I swear my allegiance, <br />To my God I swear my soul, <br />To my family I swear protection, <br />And to myself I swear never to be alone. <br /> <br />Our country has fought and fought, <br />All over this small planet, third from the sun, <br />Trying to bring peace and freedom <br />To those who have none. <br /> <br />Our military has suffered, as well as the people, <br />Our land has been denied by those here born, <br />And has been scandalized throughout the world, <br />And yet we stand tall, our heads held high. <br /> <br />We are the United States of America, <br />Our colors never run, <br />We are the land of the free, <br />Opportunity and hope. <br /> <br />Today we celebrate her glorious birthday, <br />And know that many more will come, <br />And we will have the courage to face <br />Our enemies with brave determination. <br /> <br />So I say without reservation, <br />Happy birthday America, <br />This 4th day of July,2007.<br /><br />Barbara Lynn Terry<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/america-the-beautiful-5/
