Fighting for a reason, <br />Fighting for a cause, <br />To make our lives meaningful, <br />With purpose and source. <br />To be worth more, <br />Then commercial television or record labels, <br />And those bright colourful advertisements, <br />Lead us blind, <br />Into aimless consumer belief. <br /> <br />Digging in the dirt, <br />Digging for talent, <br />Digging for some sustainable resource, <br />The young of the world are suffering, <br />The old just have been forgotten. <br />And the leaders of the world, <br />What other concerns do they have that make justification? <br /> <br />Poverty and war around the globe, <br />Are we now fighting against Mother Nature’s roar as well? <br />Too lazy to act, <br />Too much apathy to make trouble, <br />To come together and make a stand. <br />The western world just becomes obese with obsession, <br />To the meaningless, <br />Mindless obsessions. <br /> <br />Easier to pity, <br />To difficult to act, <br />Anger fills the young dreamers, <br />The beginners of actions, <br />And the tried that tried and tried. <br />All too few to make a dent, <br />In ones that populate the world. <br /> <br />Seeing through a child’s eyes, <br />It would be pure but tainted, <br />By the malevolence we fill the world, <br />Nothing is sacred? <br />Just argue your point. <br />But agree no body wants to give. <br /> <br />Divides in colour, <br />Divides in race, <br />In religion and country borders, <br />Is anything or everything, <br />Worth fighting for, <br />In this day an age that’s creditable?<br /><br />Melissa Coventry<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/is-it-worth-fighting-for/
