Today I lost myself <br />Into a little child again <br />And I found myself laughing <br />Too long; too loud; at nothing <br />While whirling like a dervish <br />Imagining a great billowing costume <br />With red chiffon pants <br />And gold beads in my hair <br />It's in this abandon I found myself <br />Though a different self <br />With a different perspective <br />And I hope never to go back to the other self <br />Because that one I see now as terrible <br />Too old; too rigid; too caught up in life <br />I want never to see her again <br />With her cold reason <br />Bringing on embarassment <br />And nervousness <br />And all the thing's a child doesn't feel <br />Or at least can ignore <br />I'm happy for this loss in myself <br />Because you grow and learn <br />Bigger and older and harsher <br />Until all you want to do <br />Is grow young<br /><br />Violet Llewellyn<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/growing-young/
