Gotta say goodbye,
To a dream I’ve had,
For a very long time.
Not quite sure when it started,
I could have been quite little.

The dream might have started,
Somewhere near the age of eight.
I dreamed of a quaint little house,
With a white picket fence,
Just right for a family.

I dreamed of the man,
Who must have been my husband,
With a little baby of our own.
I dreamed of happiness,
In our loving family.

When I turned twenty,
My dreams had changed..
No hubby required!
A beautiful child was born,
The dream was still alive.

Then at the age of twenty six,
All the good men had eluded me.
So I decided to proceed with the dream.
I brought a quaint little house,
To raise my happy family.

Things went well,
For a good many years.
Until tragedy hits,
And the dream,
Must come to an end.

It’s time for me to give up my home,
No longer able to afford it.
If my luck had lasted,
Just a couple more years,
My dream would still be alive.

Good bye my quaint little house,
With the white picket fence,
And the hubby waiting in the door.
I’m sorry I have to give up,
This childhood dream of mine.

Good bye.

A.M.
