I own a box <br />Of scrunched up feelings, <br />It’s a quiet thing <br />Despite its agitated contents. <br />Covered in plush velvet, <br />Soft like the delightful moss, <br />Hues of the sky captured in its azure, <br />Clutching a few crystallized tears in its fist, <br />A beautiful blur of faded sequins, <br />Mimicking the last of stars giving way to dawn. <br />And all this beauty <br />Only to store some fragments of conversation, <br />Some shards of smiles showered so long ago, <br />Some shreds of sweet nothings mistaken for love, <br />A handful of hugs now sharp at edges from wear, <br />Few piercing pieces of kisses shared in haste. <br />I hold it close, this velvet box <br />Of scrunched up, agitated feelings. <br />For it sits by my side on quiet evenings <br />Sharing my lonely sunsets.<br /><br />Dia Chatterjee<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-velvet-box/
