Since when did everyone in this friggin’ televised world of ours <br />Decide they could endear themselves to the rest of us ordinary people <br />By picking up a large coffee mug <br />Complete with some fancy logo imprinted on the face of it <br />Gently cupping it with both hands and then taking a passionate sip of coffee <br />Is this technique some focus group discovered would <br />Make us all feel more like family and more at home with one another <br />While they lie to us about the state of the economy <br />Or tell us what we will need to know before venturing outside on our own… <br />I noticed this for the first time on the morning shows <br />And then one of the morning show host moved to the evening news <br />Where she got a new mug with a new logo embellished on the blasted thing <br />None the less, there she was sipping her way into my living room <br />And me with a bloody beer in my hand…I felt out classed<br /><br />Ted Sheridan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/was-that-the-idea/
