The empty vase, full of life, <br />Sits eagerly on the table <br />Made of glass. <br /> <br />On a shelf in a young girls room <br />Sits the once empty shelf <br />Sprouting daffodils in their prime. <br /> <br />In a hallway closet lays the lonely, empty vase, <br />Waiting for the day <br />It will be put back on display <br /> <br />On a counter in the kitchen <br />Stands the now half-empty vase. <br />Filled with water it is now half full. <br /> <br />The empty vase gets knocked over, <br />Down and out, the empty vase <br />Spills its nothingness onto the floor <br /> <br />The empty vase, longing to be filled, <br />Waits patently in the sink <br />For someone to turn on the faucet <br /> <br />The empty vase, full of love <br />Denies the fact that at this moment <br />It is just an empty vase <br /> <br />In a land where everyone is an empty vase <br />It is the human’s job <br />To hold all the flowers <br /> <br />Even an empty vase <br />Is fully capable <br />Of holding its own weight<br /><br />Scot Warren<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-empty-vase/
