I walk around the outside of you, <br />intimidated, <br />in the music of your laughter. <br />I sample you, <br />the stars and stripes of you, <br />the magic bullet of you <br />(I feel you across a crowded room) . <br />I piece these things together <br />from the outside <br />(the noble art of getting to know you) . <br /> <br />the night sets her excitement aside <br />to accomodate you, <br />making room for the <br />silver tricks that you do. <br />I join her in watching your dances. <br />our eyes follow your spins, <br />the fluid movements you're making. <br />starlight <br />collects all over your skin, <br />your hair like strands of ebony <br />and your lips like cranberry juice. <br /> <br />in the day, <br />I climb trees to get a better view; <br />your mountains and your valleys <br />(the jagged and smooth edges of you) <br />make my wild side of earth. <br />in the ocean, <br />I stare down in the water <br />to see you swim, to taste <br />your salt-water kisses. <br />in the sunset, you glow like a copper coin <br />and my heart relaxes. <br /> <br />I constantly find myself <br />singing about you in my head, <br />trying to memorize you, <br />all about you <br />and the perfect things you do. <br />the pale red beauty trap of you. <br />the flames in your eyes, <br />the island I fly to. <br />my heart and mind sell themselves <br />to your hands, <br />given up freely for <br />your care and comfort, and <br />a better sense of who you are <br />and why I love you so much.<br /><br />Scott Stevenson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/perfect-sense/
