When I fell <br />My mother wept for <br />The big boulder <br />Hit me on the head; <br />Soil was made red which <br />My mother’s tears washed; <br />Doctor’s medicine and mother’s benevolence <br />Cured me fast and made me fit. <br /> <br />Outside the house, <br />The vagaries of life <br />Fired insults and injuries <br />Inflicting indelible wounds; <br />Got the magic balm <br />In the touch of my mother; <br />Love embodied in my mother <br />Nothing could defeat me. <br /> <br />That time also came <br />My mother bid goodbye <br />To her body and her son <br />End of the world? End of me? <br />No, life went on; <br />With more assaults and more beatings <br />Injuries were green <br />Never found the cure <br /> <br />Heart started the strike <br />Asking for rest on alternating days <br />D-day arrived and my heart was relieved <br />Free from the past and straw for the present <br />I could see them taking me <br />Pushing the trolley into the incinerator <br />Mother was not there to balm my body <br />Oh!
