One <br />I scan the list of <br />newly posted stuff <br />One time each day <br />I could savor many poems <br />but only need <br />One a day <br /> <br />Hundreds though stand in the way <br /> <br />Why is it <br />the inane and the insane <br />believe they have so darn much to say? <br /> <br />The same name <br />The same name <br />The same name <br /> <br />The one with no name <br /> <br />no name <br /> <br />again and again <br />and again <br /> <br />Doesn't impress me <br />to see <br />a blank space <br />instead of your name <br />when the poetic result is the same <br /> <br />You shot another blank <br /> <br />At least a blank accurately reflects <br />the value of the contents <br /> <br />A fine poet <br />knows that <br />it runs against <br />the odds of producing even <br />One <br />worthy poem a day <br /> <br />Do you really think you are that lucky? <br /> <br />Personally I find <br />that my own odds of success <br />are best <br />when I only read those <br />of the ones who only post <br />One <br /> <br />Unfortunately <br />Here the odds run against me <br />Though I live to read <br />I really only need <br />One a day<br /><br />H.i Chesebit<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/odds-against-finding-good-poems-100-1/
