'Friends, Romans, countrymen, <br />lend me your ears...' <br /> <br />Lend me your ears? <br />You can have them for nothing. <br /> <br />Ears, ears, ears, <br />I'm so sick of ears! <br />I've been making them all week. <br />Squirrels ears, <br />coyotes ears, <br />ears for the spunky snow-wolf <br />'Don't you think they're a bit long? <br />They make me look like a rabbit! ' <br />You want shorter ears? <br />You MAKE shorter ears. <br /> <br />Mouses' ears too. <br />(or should that be mice's ears?) <br /> <br />I hate sewing, <br />it fills me with fear. <br />But once a year <br />my Janome purrs <br />day and night, <br />and spools and spools <br />of thread are filled <br />and mischievous needles <br />with minuscule eyes <br />are threaded <br />with difficulty <br />and bespectacled concentration. <br /> <br />I think I need a break. <br />Break a leg perhaps? <br /> <br />You're right, <br />tonight's Opening Night, <br />and tomorrow I can put away the sewing machine <br />for another ear...<br /><br />Alison Cassidy<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/ears/
