A comma, coughs: <br /> <br />“Just git to the point <br />...willya! ” <br /> <br />The question <br />(quick off the mark) <br />parenthetically exclaims: <br /> <br />“Oh...why don’t we...! ” <br /> <br />“Shaddup! ” <br />snarl some shifty looking characters. <br /> <br />The question mark <br />shaddups! <br /> <br />“Alright, alright, alright! ” <br />yell the quotation marks <br /> <br />“Keep your Caps. Lock on <br />... for gawds sake! ” <br /> <br />An exclamation mark spits <br />almost in italics <br />and underlines in bold just what it has said. <br /> <br />“Just because you are upper case <br />doesn’t mean you can <br />look down on us lower letters! ” <br /> <br />“You wouldn’t treat us this way <br />if the human was here! ” <br />(they say in an WHATEVER HAPPEN TO BABY JANE way) <br /> <br />A group of letters tremble <br />(trapped in brackets) <br /> <br />“Ah…but he isn’t here...is he? ” <br /> <br />The Upper Cases mock and jeer. <br /> <br />Just then I return <br /> <br />to find <br />everything <br /> <br />quiet <br /> <br />as the words <br />I left on the page <br /> <br />when I went out. <br /> <br />I sip the hot tea <br />(Earl Grey for me) <br /> <br />trying desperately to find something to write about <br />...but can’t! <br /> <br />The words just won’t talk to me! <br /> <br />I pack it in for the night <br /> <br />convinced I can hear <br />the tiny voices <br /> <br />of words...words <br />but where..where!<br /><br />Dónall Dempsey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/writer-s-blo-ck-for-lyn/
