War created many sorrows <br />That the victims had to endure, <br />Misery and mass destruction <br />And the lack of security even more. <br />Attempts were often made to pacify <br />Those in the midst of the fray, <br />Saving them from falling into the abyss <br />And to admonish and rebuke the stray. <br />Believing that hostilities will soon cease, <br />The peacemakers will suddenly rise <br />As the weary and ravaged victims <br />Wipe the tears from their eyes. <br />Oh, then we see clearly the outline <br />Of the faces of those we adore, <br />To greet each one honorably and, <br />Remembering those who've gone before. <br />Now gone are the atrocities of the warmongers <br />That the victims once had to constantly feel. <br />Ghastly memories are still deeply rooted <br />That peacemakers can't seem to heal.<br /><br />Joseph T.
