When I walk in through the door <br />With the day’s account needed to be told <br />Will you smile and patiently hear <br />The things on my mind and all my fears? <br /> <br />Just the way you heard me then <br />Will you do it again? <br /> <br />When you see me doing a wrong <br />That can become a pattern lifelong <br />Will you scold me and make me appreciate <br />The changes that I need to make? <br /> <br />Just the way you corrected me then <br />Will you do it again? <br /> <br />When I come home teary eyed <br />With a need to free the sorrow that’s inside <br />Will you hold me and let me cry <br />And grin and call me a ‘strong girl’ in reply? <br /> <br />Just the way you cheered me then <br />Will you do it again? <br /> <br />When I am having a sleepless night <br />With fearsome thoughts on my mind <br />Will you offer me a spot on your bed <br />Cause I love to sleep with you and dad? <br /> <br />Just the way you did it then <br />Will you do it again? <br /> <br />When I doubt my worth, like I always do <br />Will you say that I’m good and mock me saying, ‘scared and you? ’ <br />While in response I chuckle and re-instill my potential <br />So that the mountainous task turns into a mole <br /> <br />Just the way you told me to keep faith then <br />Will you do it again? <br /> <br />While I don’t live with you anymore <br />But I still I long for the family shores <br />Will you promise you’ll always love <br />And cherish your little girl? <br /> <br />Just the way you treasured me then <br />Will you do it again? <br /> <br />When I’m older and you’re older still <br />I’ll be your strength and lend you a hand <br />But don’t thank me, thank your own will <br />For you’re the reason why I stand- <br /> <br />Just the way I used to then <br />The way it’ll be time and again <br /> <br />© 29 January 2008<br /><br />.Pd. is here<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/again-39/
