I am alone. <br /> <br />In a sea of people. <br /> <br />Lost in my own thoughts, <br /> <br />Trapped between questions and answers. <br /> <br />Hating every part of who i've become. <br /> <br />I try to run, <br /> <br />But i've already run to far. <br /> <br />I try to hide, <br /> <br />But i'm already invisible. <br /> <br />Nobody knows who I am, <br /> <br />Because I show them who I want to be... <br /> <br />Happy, <br /> <br />Strong, <br /> <br />Free, <br /> <br />Intelligent, <br /> <br />Someone to look up to. <br /> <br />On the inside... <br /> <br />Hope is starting to fade. <br /> <br />Courage is becoming transparent. <br /> <br />And my future consists of one big question mark. <br /> <br />I have become a prisoner to my own... <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />FEAR. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Is the ugliest emotion. <br /> <br />It is an illusion. <br /> <br />Meant to protect us from harm. <br /> <br />Yet it happens to put <br /> <br />Dreams, <br /> <br />Goals, <br /> <br />Happiness, <br /> <br />Out of reach. <br /> <br />Our greatest desires seem unattainable. <br /> <br />We laugh at the possibilities. <br /> <br />And are forced to believe they are impossible. <br /> <br />Everything isn't, <br /> <br />When really it <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />IS <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Life really as beautiful as we describe? <br /> <br />Full of... <br /> <br />Disappointment, <br /> <br />Failure, <br /> <br />Sorrow, <br /> <br />I feel hopeless. <br /> <br />My question is the answers, <br /> <br />And my answers have become questions. <br /> <br />Uncertainty, <br /> <br />scares me. <br /> <br />I could jump from the top of a building, <br /> <br />Not caring if I would fall or fly. <br /> <br />I left my optimism, <br /> <br />Right where I left my motivation. <br /> <br />Everything has become nothing, <br /> <br />And nothing is certainly not <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />EVERYTHING.<br /><br />kayla mcmillin<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/beneath-the-stains-of-time/
