Remember way back then, when,
Your rose when the sun did,
But you couldn’t tell the time,
Way back then, when,
You played in the rain,
But didn’t notice being soaked,
Until you were back inside.
Way back then, when,
The dark was frighting, alive,
But you had a teddy for comfort,
And no one else beside.
Way back then, when,
There was a child inside,
Full of life, living, breathing,
But now she’s not longer,
The way we remember,
I remember. The spirit has died.

Melissa Coventry

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/way-back-then-when/
