I listen to the train whistle blowing
as it disappears down the track.
I would have been on it
and not coming back,
but a little voice inside me said stop
and reconsider all the things you will lose.
I listened to that little voice
it made me stop and think
of what I was giving up
if I ran away.
Now I’m standing at the station
as the train disappears from view.
I’m coming home my daring;
I’m coming home to you.
I’m going to change I promise
my roving days are through.
I’m coming home for good
just to stay with you.
You’ll never have to worry
any more at closing doors.
There won’t be any leaving,
only when I’m coming home.
Our life hasn’t been easy
I’ve been hurtful at times.
I’m changing that from now on
and I’ll never leave again.
So say hello to the new me
who is coming home to stay.
I love you so much darling
it’s something I cannot deny.
I’m coming home to be with you
until our dying days.

6 February 2008

David Harris

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-m-coming-home-3/
